In this talk Tom will demystify the field of Product Sound (think: Alexa, your Microwave, that person on the train with their keyboard clicks turned on), and provide some fundamental principles, ideas and techniques, such that any design practitioner, without a shred of musical ability, could begin to explore product sound and put it to test.

About Tom

Tom is a UX practitioner, sound designer, artist and musician who has spent the last 8+ years crafting powerful experiences for physical and digital products, as well as for gallery, headphone and stage. He was a formative member of the Product Experience team at Dyson, growing the company’s user-centred, multi-sensory design capability, and now leads a digital product design team at Music X Tech scale-up PIRATE.COM. He has also co-directed a short film for BBC 4 and is credited on a large catalogue of musical works as a writer and producer.
